Ayurvedic body types experience fatigue differently.
Vata’s or those with a thin, light frame tire easily and are more prone to anxiety and nervousness. Vata types often wake between 2 – 6am (Vata time in the 24 hour circadian cycle) with their mind racing. Dysregulated cortisol and melatonin make fatigue worse so that Vata’s often experience adrenal fatigue and thyroid issues.
The cell salt duo Kali Phos #5 for nerves and mind and Mag Phos #7 for relaxing muscles help to calm the body/mind. A night time routine that includes abhyanga massage and an aromatherapy bath is helpful along with alternate nostril breathing. “Lightly touching” on any issues that arise by acknowledging them, thanking them and letting them go is a gentle approach for “monkey minds”.
Pitta body types usually experience fatigue from excessive work and not enough down time, missed meals and overuse of caffeine and alcohol to manage moods.
If you work late into Pitta time (10pm – 2am), you can get a second wind – a burst of energy often fuelled by using technology that stimulates the mind.
This is the time craving for carbs kick in affecting the appetite and fat burning hormones leptin and grehlin. Weight and skin problems can get worse for Pitta’s when you find yourself munching bowls of cereal and other sweet foods late into the evening.
Cell salts #9 Nat Phos is helpful for acidity, heartburn and indigestion particularly with a fatty food and teamed with #11 Silica is useful for gout and joint pain where waste products of metabolism are not properly excreted and build up in joints.
But eating regularly throughout the day with the main meal at lunch helps to regulate insulin. Switching off your work brain, bringing on the humour with a funny movie instead and winding down to sleep earlier helps Pitta body types to recharge. Waking up early to work is a better option.
Kapha’s are the body type that struggle the most with apathy, loss of motivation and depression. Sleeping in makes Kapha dosha worse but getting up early to exercise stimulates metabolism, increases energy and vitality and supports weight loss.
Eating light, dry and warming foods including plenty of leafy green vegetables, beans, tofu, millet, quinoa, buckwheat and corn supports Kapha types to loose weight.
