Nourish yourself in 2015

When you spend time in nature curious things happen. You drop out of your head and into your body and start to feel your natural body intelligence kicking in. After four days camping at Yuarygir (you-ra-gear) National Park – 60km of coastal stretch of rocky headlands, cliff top lookouts, deserted beaches and wild beauty on the Northern NSW coast – interesting things started to happen to me as the power of nature began to infuse my cells… I started to sleep better (my biggest problem in 2014), my eyesight improved, my skin glowed, my breathing slowed, I digested and…YES…pooped better. Important things for a menopausal woman!

What I was doing nourished me far and beyond just self care. Self care is the stuff of new years resolutions – more exercise, rest, wholefood, laughter, fun, sex etc etc – anti-ageing activities that boost your hormones. Self care is a great beginning and a portal to deeper levels of knowing and trusting your own body.

Slowing down with meditative barefoot beach walks, eating simply prepared meals, reading a book in a hammock, long conversations, daily swimming in the sea took me deeper into an understanding of how I wanted to nourish myself on a spiritual level. To take me out of my addiction to cortisol, stress and the devastating impact it has on my sleep cycle and overall health I started to acknowledge the thought patterns and beliefs that acted as my daily triggers…started to breathe into them and make PEACE with them. How they hold me back and entrap me!

Finding ways of moving into the flowing feminine body that doesn’t diminish the masculine need for structure, goal setting, to-do-lists but balances it to create deeply nourishing relationships, work and homelife and spending more time in natural environments…isn’t that what so many women want heading into our 50’s? It’s what I want for 2015!

As you move into the beginnings of 2015, ask yourself what will nourish YOU at your deepest core. It’s not a thinking exercise but one that will bubble up through your consciousness and take shape. And it is all about YOU! Put YOU at the centre this year and see how the rest of your life falls into place.
